Doga ortamı
Datça-Bozburun Özel Çevre Koruma Bölgesi.
Yarımada, tarihten günümüze kadar çeşitli medeniyetlerin ürünü, yaşadıkları devirlerin sosyal, ekonomik, mimari ve benzeri özelliklerini temsil eden arkeolojik, kentsel, doğal, tarihi, vb. açılardan korunması gerekli alanlar, sit alanı olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Bu alanlar yarımada üzerinde dağınık olarak yer almaktadır.
Alanda yapılan çalışmalar sonucunda alana yönelik ekolojik bir değerlendirme yapıldığında :

Alanda mevcut doğal değerlerin yanı sıra yüksek peyzaj değerine sahip olması, tarımın kısıtlı alanda yapılması nedeni ile nispeten doğaya uyumlu bir konumda bulunması bölgenin arkeolojik ve kültürel değerlerin yüksek olması bölgenin önemini artırmaktadır.
Deniz ortamı
Datça-Bozburun Deniz ortamı; Akdeniz’in uluslar arası konumu nedeni ile diğer kara ve deniz kaynaklı kirlenmesinin dışında doğrudan yarımada kaynaklı su kirlenmesinin yoğun baskısı altında değildir. Atık su toplama ve arıtma sistemi tamamlanma aşamasında değildir. Ancak nüfus azlığı ve yarımadanın henüz yoğun turizm baskısı altında kalmamış olması; kirlenmemiş bir deniz ortamına sahip olmasını da beraberinde getirmiştir. İnsan kullanımlarına karşı hassas bir ortamdır.

Life in Bozburun
Natural Environment
Bozburun is part of the Datça-Bozburun Special Environmental Protection Area (OCKKB – Environment Protection Agency for Special Areas).
The peninsula is declared to be a site owing to the areas that need to be protected in terms of archaeological, urban, natural, historical etc. aspects that reflect the social, economic, and architectural features of their time and that are the products of various civilizations from past to today. These areas are scattered all over the peninsula.
The ecological evaluation focused on theses particular species in the Bozburun and Data peninsulas :
Sand dunes – Forest land – Phoenix theophrasti (Datça Palm) – Liquidambar orientalis (Sweetgum tree) – Cupressus sempervirens (cypress)…
In addition to natural values in the region, its possessing a high landscape value, its being situated on a position in harmony with nature due to the limited agriculture and its possessing high archaeological and historical values add to the significance of the region.
Marine Environment
Except for land and sea based pollution, Datça-Bozburun Marine Environment is not under the direct pressure of intense peninsula based water pollution owing to the international position of the Mediterranean Sea. The situation on the peninsula does not require waste water collection and refinement system completion for the time being. The reason why the marine environment is unpolluted is that the region is not densely populated and that the peninsula is not under intense pressure of tourism. It is a vulnerable area in terms of human actions.
Wild animals around Bozburun Peninsula :
You could have the chance to see Carreta-Carreta Turtles (Loggerhead) or Seals. These animals are wild and should not be disturbed.
